Jewish Voice for Peace NYC said on Instagram after the event, “Hundreds and hundreds of Jews and allies shut down Grand Army Plaza for the second Shabbat in a row to stand in full solidarity with Palestinians rising up around the world against ethnic cleansing and apartheid. We were proud to pour into the streets with @sumayaawad, @adalahjusticeproject, @zohrankmamdani, @jfrejnyc, @ifnotnoworg, Rabbi Miriam Grossman and others to demand @senschumer end US military funding to Israel and sign onto @berniesanders Joint Resolution of Disapproval to block the sale of $735 million of weapons to the Israeli government. No business as usual until Palestine is free! #RiseUpWithPalestine.”

Jewish Voice for Peace NYC said on Instagram before the demonstration, “If you are outraged by what the Israeli government is continuing to do to Palestinians, join us this Friday at Grand Army Plaza.

Over the past week, Israel has targeted Palestinian families, media outlets, schools, hospitals, and even Gaza’s only COVID test site. In the face of unimaginable violence, Palestinians across the world are rising up in unified resistance to ongoing Israeli apartheid. We are profoundly moved by their resistance and commit ourselves to standing with them with determination like never before.

Already, the tide is turning. Public opinion is on the side of freedom. Hundreds of thousands are taking to the streets. Yesterday in the House and today in the Senate, @aoc and @berniesanders announced that they are introducing resolutions in Congress that would block the United States’ planned $735 million sale of bombs to Israel.

At last week’s emergency action at Grand Army Plaza in Brooklyn, 700+ Jewish New Yorkers showed up at @senschumer’s doorstep to demand he take action to end US military funding to Israel.

As Jews, we must stand unequivocally with Palestinians their struggle for their homes, their land, and their lives.”

Outraged at apartheid Israel’s crimes against Palestinians? Here are 5 things you can do.

According to the BDS Movement, “In many countries, governments and corporations are deeply complicit with Israel’s decades-old regime of military occupation, settler-colonialism and apartheid, just as they were complicit in the apartheid regime in South Africa. Israel can only sustain this regime of oppression with international complicity.” Click here to see 5 actions you can do to show that dismantling Israel’s regime of oppression is also in your hands.
